About Me

This is an off the peg template which one can download gratis from the Internet. It is Brand new and it’s taking its first wobbly steps into the real world. I have customized it as best as I can to suit my needs. It is by no means perfect as yet but for Artists working on a small budget it suffices for the time being as a digital online portfolio. Web sites are an on-going metamorphosis and mine will be no exception. But be assured there will be a point in time when the fine tuning will end and we can all look forward to a blip free web site, the contents of which will be managed with new updated images and regular information.

I am a Welshman by birth and proud of it. My roots are in Blaenau Ffestiniog in the shadows of the wild mountains of Snowdonia and a leaks throw away from the shores of the Irish sea.
After school I studied Graphic design at Chester and later Illustration at Harrow School of Art in London. I graduated at 21 and began my working life as a freelance illustrator in London. Parallel to my commercial work I produced etchings and paintings, which I sold in galleries all over the country. After 6 hard years I itched to see the world and grabbed my chance and sold everything and went off on a two year ramble around the globe. During this period I exhibited in the USA and Australia. On my return I dropped my anchor in the Derbyshire Peak District, which offered me quick access to the Lakes, Manchester galleries and my home in Wales. I produced many etchings some of which are illustrated here including my Air prints, the entire edition of which Christies Contemporary Art bought. I also sold my artwork at The Royal Academy of Art summer shows for many years.
I moved to Germany after being smitten by a young German Ballet dancer outside the Northern Ballet School in Manchester 23 years ago. I worked in Frankfurt for an Ad Agency as an in-house illustrator but specialized in medical illustration for a publisher for whom I produced over 350 illustrations, only a very few are shown here. I opened up my Art School almost two years ago primarily to pass on my expertise and knowledge to young students but also to adults keen to grasp the passion of drawing.
I still continue to draw and paint as often as I can the aim of which is to concentrate more exclusively on my own art and phase out my life as a commercial illustrator forever and enjoy what time I have left by doing what I love the most.
